Is it right to crucify oneself to show God that you are repenting?

I believe this is practiced in the Phillipines, not to death, but definitely the suffering. God doesn't ask this of us and so I don't think there is a need to do this. Jesus already took the sin for us and endured the worst tortures so we may not have to.
