High creatinine caused kidney damage?

No, it's the other way around. Kidney problems/damage will cause an increase in creatinine levels. Creatinine is a waste product of the body and is excreted from the body through our kidneys. When the kidney is damaged, it cannot excrete Creatinine well so it builds up in the blood causing the high levels. Dye used during cardiac catheterization and the like are usually just excreted by a normal kidney. Doctors will not perform that procedure if your kidneys are damaged.
